Play By Ear Flashcards is a free, accessible, reading instruction app designed for parents who are blind or have low vision to teach reading to their child with normal or low vision. Optimized for use with iPhone VoiceOver, a parent wearing headphones will hear the word seen onscreen by their child. VoiceOver also acts as audio reinforcement for a child with low vision using the app independently. 300 common sight words are presented individually in high contrast, large text.
Other features of the app include:
Audible help - fast instructions on the available functions
Feedback - send comments to improve future releases
Easy navigation - use a three-finger swipe to move through the word list or double-tap the forward or back arrow
Landscape mode only - maximizes the size of each word for clarity
Icon only navigation - the word read is the only one shown on screen
Work on all iOS devices running iOS 12 and above.
